Spring Brood
I'll never forget waking up to a flock of quail surrounding our tent while camping in Point Reyes National Seashore. We had hiked seven miles to a remote campground so far removed from human settlements, that the quail weren't afraid of us. They traveled in large families, made the cutest little noises, and nested in nearby stalks of wildflowers. The wildflowers featured in this drawing are Trumpet Vine flowers and Matilija Poppies, also known as the "fried egg" flower, a special favorite of mine and frequently sighted along the northern California coast. I made this drawing digitally using a Wacom tablet and Adobe programs.
